Getting ready for the Houston mini maker faire with the Children’s Museum of Houston, and safety

When we visited the Maker Annex at the Children’s Museum of Houston recently, we couldn’t help but notice the safety signs on the wall near the laser cutter and the fire extinguisher.

The annex’s benevolent overlord, Brent Richardson, designed a color-coded safety system that is easy to understand and use.

He colored-coded just about everything in the maker space. Then he composed simple instructions on how to respond to each color.

His primary research assistants, kids, can easily connect the colored dot on a tool to the instructions in the sign.

Houston Mini Maker Faire November 1

Our meeting with Brent made it very clear that the faire is going to be exciting!

And we are excited to be working with him.
