Data Recovery Clean Room

Data Recovery Clean Rooms provide a controlled and reduced particulate enclosure suited for applications such as hard drive restoration, digital forensics, and electronic device repairs. These clean rooms are specifically designed to keep airborne particles such as dust, hair, skin flakes, and microbes from causing significant physical damage to a drive resulting in unrecoverable data. Our data recovery clean rooms meet ISO Class 5 or Class 100 Standards. ISO 14644-1 dictates the maximum number of particles sized 0.5 microns and below for different ISO clean room classifications. ISO Class 5 clean rooms must have the following particle limits per cubic foot to meet certification standards.

In contrast, an uncontrolled room or space contains about 5 - 10 million airborne particles. ISO Class 5 clean rooms significantly reduce the number of particles per cubic foot through the use of HEPA and ULPA filters. HEPA filters provide efficiency up to 99.97% on particles sized 0.3 microns and larger. ULPA filters create cleaner air with efficiency up to 99.9995% on particles sized 0.12 microns and larger. Clean rooms for data recovery create a proper clean room environment for safe disk drive recovery processes by reducing the airborne particles preventing damage to hard drive components and loss of data.

Hard Drive Recovery Room

A hard drive recovery room must be utilized to safely open a disk drive for inspection and repair. Any dust can physically damage a platter or head on a drive resulting in a higher chance of drive failure and data loss. A platter rotates several thousand times per minute which could stir up a significant amount of dust and particles if opened in an uncontrolled environment. Opening a drive in a hard drive recovery room meets disk drive manufacturer requirements and keeps the warranty valid. Manufacturers create disk drives in a clean room environment and recommend repairing drives in the same ISO Class 5 clean room. A hard drive recovery room enables a trained technician to safely open disk drives, flash drives, and memory cards to recover data. A safe and proper clean room for data recovery increases productivity by allowing the technician to focus on the task and quickly open, inspect and make repairs to damaged hard drives.
