Testimonial: Dental lab cheers up neighbors with acrylic fume containment

Annalan Laboratory in New Jersey is a custom dental lab with one specialty: occlusal splints (also called night guards).

SofTouchTM occlusal splint by Annalan Laboratory.

Dentists order them for patients who have had restoration work or implants.

The lab has developed a splint with a rigid outer shell and a soft lining that helps protect veneers applied to teeth and gold hardware used with implants.

They ship their splints to dentists all over the country.

Fume & Odor Control Problem

Annalan’s growing business created a problem; their neighbor in the building began complaining of ‘acrylic smells’.

The Winged Sentry can be configured with filtration media appropriate for the application, including HEPA [up to 99.97% efficient on particles 0.3 microns and larger], Activated Carbon, and specialty-blended media that captures specific substances [i.e. Acid Gas, Mercury, Aldehydes, Ammonia].

The lab uses methyl methacrylate, which is a common ingredient in the manufacture of resins and plastics. It has an acrid odor and irritates the eyes and mucus membrane.

Managers re-did the layout of some tasks in the production area and installed a Model 200 Winged Sentry with a clear lid in the mixing area.

Annalan’s Winged Sentry is equipped with 2.5 pounds of activated carbon, which is very effective at capturing methyl methacrylate fumes before they spread.

Ductless spray hood

Sentry Air Model 360 Ductless Spray Hood.

The spacious interior of the Model 360 makes it particularly suitable for production tasks that are unique to one-of-a-kind and customized products.

Annalan also uses a Model 360 Ductless Spray Hood in its processes.

The sprayhood has three tiers of filtration to ensure that sprayed substances, such as paint and coatings, do not disperse beyond the work area.
